Yes, this is my second blog entry since I declared myself on hiatus. No, it does not mean I’m off my hiatus. Not yet. But here’s an update:
- Yesterday morning, I closed on a condo in Midtown. Specifically, I’ll be moving to the 300 block of 3rd Street. Some of you may know it as being within walking distance of Krispy Kreme. I know it as being within walking distance of the Old Spaghetti Factory. There will be more to report over the next few months, but for now I’m ready to get back to concentrating on school.
- Gwinnett County has been in the AJC lately. This past Sunday, we learned that Wayne Mason played a huge role in shaping the county to what it is today. What are the results? Urban blight became the major issue in last Tuesday’s election, for one thing. And a new, gentler, suburban form of White Flight is rolling its way through the county. Cobb County will be the next to experience these two trends as the recent SPLOST vote begins to rake in new dough for a new shape to the county. Sam Olens (QT Movie) is generally a very smart politician, and rumor has it that he’d very much like to see more transit in the county. But none of the SPLOST money will go toward any meaningful funding for alternatives.
- School is getting closer to over. Over the coming few weeks I will be writing a paper on the Peachtree Streetcar, a paper about HUD’s HOPE VI program, and a presentation about Community Development as a form of Economic Development. You won’t see me around much for the next few weeks.
Tune in later when I announce the housewarming party, which will begin with dinner at the Old Spaghetti Factory.

Congratulations on the condo! I’m moving into an apartment next week, though I don’t think I’ll have time to throw a housewarming party. For that matter, a 1-bedroom studio might be a little small for one anyway.

Hi Joe,
Welcome to the neighborhood. Me, I’m near 7th and Glendale Ter. Also far too close to the Krispy Kreme. Breakfast of champions.

What’s wrong with lily-white? Is that supposed to be bad?
The “new” Gwinnett would still keep that shit MARTA system out of their county. Funny how that would still work out….except this time you can’t blame whitey.
