Up until very recently I Rode a Bicycle Everywhere and I live in little 5 points. I can personally attest to the bicycle unfriendliness of Atlanta. Though, it's not downtown that I found difficult. It's the areas around downtown to the east and west of the P'tree, Spring, Peidmont corridor, the areas along Northside and B'vard that get really dangerous.
